Travel tips and tricks come in very handy when you travel. If you "know before you go," you'll have a better time. After all, vacations are supposed to be fun, not stressful! Some people joke that they need a vacation from their vacation. If you follow these tips -- you'll have a better vacation!
Travel Tips for Pets
1. If you must bring your pet, make sure he's comfortable.
2. If you're flying, make sure you have an airline regulated carrier. Otherwise, be prepared to hand over some cash to your airline.
3. Bring your pet(s) favorite toy.
4. Carry snacks for your pet.
5. Keep your pet calm.
Traveling with Children
1. Before you leave for vacation, explain to your child or children about what takes place when you travel. Try to "mimic" the noises and sounds of the airplane or do a Google search. Make sure you child knows what to expect before boarding the airplane.
2. Bring snacks for the kids.
3. Carry their favorite toy or blanket.
4. Bring an IPod or MP3 player with their favorite music.
5. Bring a laptop so they can watch their favorite movies.
6. Keep your child calm.
Solo Travel
1. Review your itinerary.
2. Have foreign currency with you when traveling to a foreign country.
3. Be confident and look people in the eye.
4. Be aware of your surroundings at all time.
5. Ask for directions if you're not sure how to get somewhere.
6. Make copies of your travel documents and leave them with family and friends -- bring copies with you.
7. Carry your passport with you when in a foreign country.
8. If you're staying in a hostel, bring a lock with you.
9. If you're American, know where the American Embassy is within the country you're visiting.
When in Doubt Leave it Out!
1. Don't pack your entire closet! Bring enough clothes for your trip.
2. Bring good walking shoes.
3. Bring enough "unmentionables" as you'll need.
4. If you forget your tooth brush, don't worry about it. You'll be able to purchase one.
5. Bring trial size soaps, shampoos, conditioners, and hair products.
6. Buy a guidebook by Rick Steves. He does a great job explaining what and how to pack your bags.
7. Don't pack your entire makeup bag. Just bring the essentials like lip gloss and mascara. Consider bringing a "tinted" moisturizer foundation. It doubles as makeup and moisturizer for your skin. For makeup remover, bring yours in a travel sized container or buy it.
Other Travel Tips
1. Make sure you have plenty of airline regulated plastic bags to pass through the security checkpoint.
2. Obtain or renew your passport.
3. When traveling to foreign countries, order foreign currency before you leave. This way if you need a taxi, you'll have the money to do so.
4. Read about the country you will be visiting. Know something about the country before you go on vacation.
5. If you're visiting a foreign country, learn to speak the language.
6. Make copies of your travel documents and leave them with family and friends -- bring copies with you.
7. Find out where the American Embassy is within the foreign country you'll be visiting.
